Program
- Men's Program
Men are deemed to be the key perpetrators of violence and abuse against women and children and other men. Men are perhaps reacting as a result of deep seated problems they may have had as children or are behaving in response to the cultural orientations they may have been exposed to or are suffering from various psychological and mental disorders which may render them prone to their aggressive mode of operation. If indeed these are the causes then they are mentally ill and must be treated as such and must be rehabilitated.
Reckoning these as issues that render men and boys to be aggressive, we will go to them in the communities and have conversations with them. They must face up to their past, or they must recognize certain cultural orientation as a weakness rather than a strength so they can unlearn that. And if they are helpless victims of their anger or emotions then they may require help from psychiatrists. A process of rehabilitation is the key to unlock the positive sides of men and boys.
We believe that a positive mental attitude might help them be become responsible and loving fathers/husbands to their loved ones. Then we enhance that positive attitude with skills to become productive using the available resources. Then we will encourage them to live a happy, healthy and harmonious family life in their communities.
If this can happen for families in the rural and urban communities we can expect a strong healthy society leading to a strong nation.
